If you’re a TRICARE beneficiary, you can now get a prescription for a breast pump! And, if you bought one as far back as December of 2014 you can get reimbursed for the cost. How cool is that?!?!
Beginning July 1, 2015, TRICARE covers breast pumps and breast pump supplies at no cost for new mothers, including mothers who adopt an infant and plan to breastfeed.
I know this may be old news to some of you, but the active date is right around the corner – July 1st, 2015.
TRICARE will cover manual and electric pumps for most “birth events” and hospital grade pumps when medically necessary. They also pay for such items as…
- bottles and caps
- storage bags
- and power adapters
…just to name a few.
All you need is a prescription from your healthcare provider. If you’re submitting a claim for reimbursement for a pump you already purchased you’ll also need an itemized receipt.
Take a look at the TRICARE page on breast pumps and supplies and start using your benefits next Wednesday…you earned it!
